Summer of 2019 Clay Play day as part of the Devonport Regional Gallery's Tidal Festival 2019

In January 2019 at the Clay Play workshop at the Devonport Bluff, we began to make tiles for the mural with local community and visitors.

Mural installation!

The mural installation took place over three days in January 2020 Thank you to our assistants, Jenni Hinch and Leanne Cocker from the Devonport Mosaic Group, Birgitta Magnusson-Reid, Ana, Holly and Harriet. tiles were unwrapped and laid out on a sheet so we could choose the larger ones to begin with. Here is our blank wall! Lyn begins to place the first tiles on the wall. We are pretty excited to be at this stage and be able to do the installation. Harriet the expert tile-slicer, made thin strips for the border of the mural. The happy protagonists doing a selfie. Here it is with the installation, complete, except for a bit of Grouting to do. completed mural!

Voila! Devonport Surf and Life Saving Club Mural Complete!

If you contributed to this mural by making a ceramic tile or decorating one, you can now go and find your tile at the mural. Tiles were made by both young and old, at: The  ClayPlay workshop (as part of Devonport Regional Gallery Tidal Festival) at the Bluff in January 2019 Tile making workshops at Devonport High School Tile making workshops at Space for Learning The Devonport Regional Gallery's Youth Arts, Create and Make classes and Tuesday Group The nippers workshop at Devonport Surf and Life Saving Club About 150 people made over 300 tiles to contribute to this mural. Thank you for contributing to the arts and cultural life of Devonport. We hope you enjoy finding your tile and seeing it in the finished mural.
